Keysight offers tiered PathWave signal generation models to support different hardware platforms. The N-model applications (e.g., N7608APPC, with prefix "N") are designed for high-performance platforms, such as the M9484C VXG. The E-model applications (e.g., E7608APPC, with prefix "E") are designed for mid-range platforms such as the N5186A MXG.
Higher-tiered models are backward compatible and can run on lower-tiered hardware platforms. For example, N7608APPC can run on N5186A MXG, but E7608APPC cannot run on M9484C VXG.
