This video presents a collaborative demonstration between Keysight Technologies and MediaTek, showcasing a Non-Terrestrial Network (NR-NTN) scenario that aligns with several emerging themes in 6G research and development.

 

As 6G continues to take shape, several hot topics are driving innovation across the wireless ecosystem:

  • New spectrum bands, including FR3 and terahertz frequencies
  • AI and machine learning for intelligent network control
  • Digital twin technologies for real-time modeling and simulation
  • New network topologies, including satellite-based and hybrid architectures

 

In this demo, Keysight and MediaTek simulate a realistic NTN environment using:

  • MediaTek user equipment (UE) housed in a shielding box
  • A base station emulator equipped with an orbit emulator

 

The scenario involves two satellites, where the UE initially connects to Satellite 1 and then performs a handover to Satellite 2. This setup reflects real-world NTN use cases, where maintaining seamless connectivity across moving satellite links is critical.

 

The orbit emulator models satellite motion and link dynamics, enabling validation of handover performance and connection stability. This is essential for ensuring reliable service in NTN deployments, especially as operators prepare for 3GPP Release 19 and future 6G rollouts.

 

By combining advanced emulation tools with real UE hardware, this demo provides a glimpse into how service providers and technology vendors can test and optimize satellite-based communication systems. It also illustrates how Keysight’s test solutions support the development of intelligent, adaptive, and scalable networks for the next generation of wireless connectivity.
