The J6756B HSSI Tap is designed to be used with the J6821A HSSI LIM for the Network Analyzer and the J3762B HSSI plug-in module for the Keysight Advisor. This device has three connectors, two of which connect it semi-permanently into the HSSI circuit to be monitored; internally, these SCSI II connectors are directly wired together so that the signals pass through the tap passively. Signals on these connections are internally tapped to high impedance amplifiers allowing both directions to be monitored without disturbance to the HSSI circuit. The amplified signals are terminated appropriately to the third connector for connection to the analyzer.
For semi-permanent connection to the network being monitored
Two SCSI II connectors used to allow the tap to be inserted into a bi-directional HSSI circuit
Through connections are lossless direct connections, these are tapped and connected to high impedance amplifiers and terminated appropriately at the monitor interface
"Y" cable is supplied for connecting the monitor interface of the HSSI Tap to the two SCSI II connectors on the J6821A LIM or J3762B plug-in module
A power supply is provided to power the HSSI Tap monitor amplifiers (the power supply is not required for maintaining the thru-mode connections, which are direct and passive)
HSSI Taps can be left connected semi-permanently without disrupting network traffic while the Network Analyzer is disconnected and moved to other locations (and other HSSI Taps)
