Automotive Radar Target Simulator
Imaging radars, also known as 4D radars with its increased antenna array provide a “visual” 3D image of the environment, a massive improvement over the standard radar sensor. These improvements come with higher demand on test equipment, such as more bandwidth (BW) and better distance accuracy. The E8719A improves over previous generations of radar target simulators (RTS) with a full 5 GHz of instantaneous BW, no separation or shifting of available BW within the usable ranges, and just one setting. This comes with exceptional gain flatness and better-simulated distance resolution, ready to address the needs of any radar sensor on the market from 76 to 81 GHz.
- Available as single or multi-target (3 targets, 2nd, and 3rd target is fixed distance).
- Same ease of use and setup as previous RTS units.
- Horn antennas and front-end brackets are optional or can be configured as part of the RTS.
- Additional calibrated IF port available for connection to external devices.
- API commands are provided for control of RTS.
Confidently Accelerate Your Radar Target Test Setups in the Lab or End-of-Line (EOL)
For the radar target simulator test setup, among the challenges, especially when conducted over-the-air (OTA), is accurately simulating the radar-cross-section (RCS). The entire path will contain losses and mismatches that impact accuracy. As a solution, the E8719A target simulator OTA calibration feature provides a highly repeatable, metrology driven automated routine leveraging the small palm-size U9361M Receiver Calibrator as a known calibrated source to perform the OTA calibration. The measured losses can then be fed back into the RTS where adjustments can be made to ensure a well calibrated path for the overall radar target test.
