LAN/GPIBゲートウェイは、GPIB機器とLANを接続するためのものです。GPIB用に開発されたSICLまたはVISAアプリケーションを、簡単なアドレス変更だけでLAN経由で使用可能になります。
ゲートウェイは、ハードウェアとSICL/VISAソフトウェアの組み合わせです。クライアント/サーバ技術を使って標準のSICL/VISA機能を拡張することにより、LAN上に存在するGPIB機器をリモートで制御可能にします。これにより、コントローラをより便利な場所や安全な場所に置くことができます。GPIBインタフェース・カードの代わりにゲートウェイが使用できます。
