Keysight 10086AはECLターミネータです。ECL信号が通常グランドからオフセットされているのに対して、高周波テスト機器は一般的にグランドに対して50オーム終端となっています。このため、ECL信号をテスト機器に直接接続すると、ECL出力またはテスト機器のいずれかが損傷する恐れがあります。10086A ECLターミネータは、ECL出力とテスト機器および測定器との間の優れたインタフェースとなります。
ターミネータは信号をオフセットおよび減衰させて、テスト機器を保護するとともに、ECL回路とテスト機器間に適切な終端電圧を提供します。また、10086Aを単独で使用してECL出力に適切な負荷を加えることもできます。ECLターミネータは測定器に対してDC結合される高精度アダプタです。このため、ECL信号を直接測定することが可能になります。ECLターミネータを使用すれば、電源の調整、容量性結合、トランス結合は必要ありません。さらに、機器のグランドを-2Vにフローティングする必要もありません。このため、電源のショートの危険や感電および回路の損傷などの恐れが少なくなります。
