RF Output Modes of Keysight Compact Signal Generators

This application note describes the RF output modes provided by Keysight compact signal generators. It provides information about how different RF output modes affect transients and modulations. All related programming commands are explained.

 

Keysight compact signal generators use different systems that control how the RF output signal behaves during transients and when modulations are active:

  • An automatic leveling correction (ALC) system to provide maximum output power accuracy. The ALC compensates effects of ambient conditions like temperature on output power. The ALC continuously monitors output power, compares it to the programmed setting, and corrects output power if needed.
  • An output blanking switch that can turn off the signal at the RF output. It is used to blank transitions between different settings.
