86100D-9FP PAM-N Analysis Software for 86100D DCA-X Series Oscilloscopes
Analyze electrical and optical Pulse Amplitude Modulated (PAM) signals quickly and accurately
Data Sheet
Introduction
Demand for increased network bandwidth in data centers continues to grow. Several industry groups and standards bodies are using or are actively considering multi-level signaling for such as Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM) since it enables higher data rates for a given channel bandwidth compared to common Non-Return-to-Zero (NRZ) signaling. However, the switch from NRZ to PAM-4 creates many new design and measurement challenges.
Keysight 86100D-9FP PAM-N analysis software for the 86100D DCA-X wide-bandwidth oscilloscope platform is designed to accurately and quickly characterize electrical and optical PAM-4 designs.
86100D DCA-X Option 9FP PAM Analysis Features
Comprehensive analysis of Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM-4) signals
Flexible, economical
Powerful advanced analysis features
1. Select your 86100D DCA-X hardware configuration
Option 9FP PAM analysis software works with any DCA-X hardware configuration.
At high data rates, an oscilloscope that provides sufficient bandwidth to capture the high frequency content of your signal, combined with an ultra-low jitter timebase, helps to ensure optimal measurement accuracy. However, with PAM signals, oscilloscope noise becomes a very important consideration. The 86100D DCA-X wide-bandwidth oscilloscope is a flexible solution that provides ultra-low jitter performance together with an extremely low noise acquisition system. For analysis of PAM-4 systems up to 32 GBaud*, recommended configurations include:
Precision electrical
High-bandwidth optical
Combined optical and multi-channel electrical
Highest low-noise channel count in the industry with up to:
2. Perform comprehensive analysis of Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM-4) signals using 86100D-9FP
Accurate analysis of electrical and optical signals
Keysight’s 86100D Option 9FP PAM software performs accurate analysis on electrical and optical PAM signals using measurements integrated directly into the FlexDCA user interface (no external application is required). Communication links using PAM typically operate at much higher BER than traditional NRZ links, so the Option 9FP PAM analysis algorithms have been engineered to provide robust measurements even on severely degraded signals.
