ESA 8590-Series Programming Code Compatibility (Option 290)
Option 290 for the ESA can be obtained using one of the following two methods:
- You can download the upgrade from this site for free to a Microsoft Windows based Personal Computer.
- You can purchase an E440xBU-290 upgrade kit.
Note: Option 290 only works on ESA spectrum analyzers with firmware version A.07.02 or later.
Why Install This Option?
8590-series spectrum analyzers are widely used in automated measurement systems around the world. Option 290 is designed for those who wish to replace or upgrade the 8590 spectrum analyzer in their systems with a higher-performance ESA series analyzer without rewriting their software. Option 290 for ESA supports 130 of the most common and widely used 8590 programming commands. This eliminates a great deal of the time and effort required to rewrite, debug, and validate test system software.
Is Option 290 Appropriate for Everyone?
Option 290 is particularly appropriate for customers who wish to reuse existing 8590-series software. If you do not have existing 8590 software, and are writing new ESA automation software, we recommend that you do not use option 290. Instead, use the industry-standard SCPI programming commands available on all current models of ESA spectrum analyzers.
