The time-domain capability allows you to measure the time-domain response of a device. The analyzer can transform frequency-domain data to the time domain or time-domain data to the frequency domain.

The transform used by the analyzer resembles time-domain reflectometry (TDR) measurements. TDR measurements, however, are made by launching an impulse or step into the test device and observing the response in time with a receiver, similar to an oscilloscope. In contrast, the analyzer makes swept frequency response measurements and mathematically transforms the data into a time-domain reflectometer-like display.

S930705B enables fast and accurate active-device modulation distortion characterization under modulated stimulus condition up to 50 GHz. The wide dynamic range and vector error correction of the PNA-X result in an extremely low residual EVM of the test setup, so you can get a complete picture of your device’s performance without test system interference. S930704B can measure EVM, NPR, ACPR, and can decompose nonlinear signals and linear signals with the spectral correlation between input and output spectrum without doing demodulation. Integration with the PNA-X SCCM provides quick modulation distortion measurements while making other VNA measurements.

A signal generator connected to the PNA-X provides the modulated stimulus. Supported signal generators: VXG (M9383B/84B), M9383A, PSG + M8190A, MXG, or UXG with U3039ACK1

S94521B Arbitrary Load Control X-Parameters (ALC) provides passive, active or hybrid load control for extracting X-parameter models far from 50 Ohms. The application is ideal for high power transistor/ amplifier design and validation.

The new ALC application is highly integrated and interactive with the NVNA software providing setup, dc I/V selection, measurement, analysis, and model extraction. Each tab in the application guides you through the process. Adjustments can be made, based on measurement results, before selecting to extract the final X-parameter model. Built-in flexibility enables integration into user systems ranging from the very simple to very complex.

The S93029B noise figure application enables high-accuracy noise figure and noise-power measurements of amplifiers, frequency converters, and mixers, utilizing Keysight’s unique vector-source-correction technique that uses a source-impedance tuner to remove the effects of imperfect system-source match. This approach yields accuracy that surpasses that provided by the Y-factor method and other cold-source implementations, especially for in-fixture, on-wafer, and automated-test environments. A scalar-calibrated method is also available that offers less accuracy, but is faster and does not require an impedance tuner.

If S93029B is used on a PNA-X configured with Option 029 low-noise receiver, then it makes full use of the built-in low-noise receiver. Optionally, noise figure measurements can be made using the standard receivers for high-gain (> 60 dB), narrowband devices that might otherwise overload the low-noise receiver, or for noise figure measurements between 50 and 67 GHz on the N5247B. 

If running on a PNA, a PNA-X without Option 029 low-noise receiver, or for measurements up to 67 GHz, then the instrument’s standard receivers are used. For those cases, an external preamplifier and filter(s) is required for devices with < 30 dB of excess noise (gain plus noise figure in dB) up to 20 GHz, < 40 dB up to 50 GHz, or < 45 dB up to 67 GHz. Instruments with front panel jumpers are recommended as they provide a convenient spot for adding a preamplifier and filter for low-gain, low-noise-figure devices. 

The S93029B controls the Keysight N4690 Series E-Cal modules configured as impedance tuners for use with N522xB PNA models or N5241/42/49B PNA-X models, or a built-in tuner for N5244/45/47B PNA-X models with Option 029.

Keysight N1500A materials measurement software suite works with a measurement instrument: a network analyzer, impedance analyzer, or LCR meter which measures the material’s response to RF or microwave energy, and allows you to determine the intrinsic electromagnetic properties of many dielectric and magnetic materials. The software controls the measurement instrument and calculates results. The measurement frequency range is from 20Hz to the low THz, depending on the instrument and sample holder or fixture used.

The S95089B combines source-phase control of multiple internal or external sources with frequency-offset mode, enabling simplified test of I/Q modulators/converters and differential mixers, and harmonic measurements of differential amplifiers. The phase difference between sources can be fixed (for example, at 90 or 180 degrees), or swept between two specified phase values. Providing accurate control of the relative phase between sources eliminates the need for hybrid couplers and baluns to create quadrature or differential signals. After achieving the desired phase alignment, the instrument's receivers can be tuned to all frequencies needed to characterize the DUT. On an I/Q modulator for example, measurements can be made of both the desired and suppressed conversion bands, along with LO leakage, harmonics and other spurious signals. Phase sweeps can be used to determine a DUT’s phase imbalance versus frequency. Users can specify measurements with individual receivers or multiple receivers combined with a wide range of mathematical operators. Power measurements can employ match correction for increased accuracy.

PXI vector network analyzers (VNA) offer the capability to extend the number of ports for your measurements by using additional modules. When multiple modules are used, they are configured for multiport operation. The S95551B adds a multiport analyzer mode that enables full multiport error correction and measurement capabilities. The instruments may be identified as one VNA by the firmware running on an external host PC. At least one VNA instrument connected to your PC must have one S95551B license to maintain N-port capabilities.

The S95551B software is compatible with M983xA and M980xA Series vector network analyzers.

This application provides a macro which enables full multiport error correction and measurement capabilities using external switch instruments such as the M9164A/B or M9165A/B PXI Solid-state Switch Matrix. The software includes an easy-to-use measurement wizard that simplifies measurement procedures and reduces the setup time of complicated multiport measurements. The VNA displays measured multiport S-parameters.
With the combination of M980xA PXIe VNAs and M916xA/B switch matrix, up to 66 ports (2 VNAs (4 ports and 6 ports M980xA), plus 4 modules of 2x16 M9164A/B) can be configured and supported. Measurement specification is supported when using the M9164B/M9165B 9 GHz switch modules.

Only 4-port ECal modules (i.e. N4431/32/33D) are supported for multiport calibration with the S95553B.

The S95086B Gain-Compression Measurement (GCA) software provides fast and accurate input power, output power, gain, and phase at the compression point of an amplifier or frequency converter over a specified frequency and power range. GCA also includes a guided calibration that corrects for absolute power levels, frequency response, and mismatch errors.
