Keysight and Qualcomm Technologies validated an ML-based CSI compression method for advanced MIMO systems. The demonstration used a mobile test platform powered by a Qualcomm 5G Modem-RF together with Keysight’s network emulation solutions in a repeatable lab environment.
Under fixed CSI feedback constraints, the ML-based compression method provided a more efficient channel representation than standardized eType II CSI reporting. The method maintained the information needed for accurate beamforming and link decisions while improving downlink performance in the tested configuration.
Keysight’s 5G wireless test platforms support broad device validation across multiple radio access technologies, including 5G NR, LTE, RedCap, NB-IoT, Cat-M, C-V2X, and WLAN. The platforms support both frequency range 1 (FR1) and frequency range 2 (FR2) millimeter-wave testing and are designed to validate device performance across early prototyping, development, design verification, conformance, carrier acceptance, and manufacturing workflows.
For this collaboration, Qualcomm’s modem test platform was combined with Keysight’s AI-enabled base station emulation solutions to evaluate ML-based CSI compression in a controlled lab environment. The setup helped validate the impact of AI-enhanced CSI feedback on advanced MIMO performance and supported broader exploration of physical-layer AI techniques for 5G-Advanced and future 6G systems.
