The Keysight Services videos highlight how calibration meets technical and business goals. On the technical side that means accurate measurement results. On the business side, it means lower cost of ownership.

Why Calibrate? What is calibration?
Do you just assume good things will happen when you send your instrument in for calibration service? Sadly, they don't always. At the end of this video, you will know what to ask for, what to expect, and why, when you evaluate who to choose for instrument calibration service.

Calibration Adjustments. Who can do adjustments?
You may unknowingly be making measurements that are outside the manufacturer's specification! If the instrument you send in for calibration service is measured out-of-spec, then you need OEM adjustments to be performed. But modern instruments don't use screwdrivers anymore. This video provides an overview of how automated procedures with external equipment ensure that your instrument performs to OEM specifications.

Measurement Uncertainty. How accurate?
Metrologists define "accuracy" using the term "measurement uncertainty". Step 1 of calibration is to measure actual instrument performance. Step 2 is to answer "How accurate are those measurements?" This video explains how calibration measurement uncertainty is determined, and why it matters to you and for standards compliance.

Traceability. Why is it Important?
Stated simply, traceability is the process of relating your measurement back to the most accurate standard used by a national metrology institute, such as NIST, NPL, PTB, etc. The importance of traceability depends on your relative need for low measurement uncertainty. Although all calibration labs include the list of instruments used for the calibration of your test equipment, not all labs calibrate the critical performance tests that are important to the measurements you make. This list, also called a trace report, can help you determine if your critical measurements were calibrated.

Standards Compliance. Which Ones?
Ever wonder why calibration standards are written with such complex language? You are not alone. This video simply covers the key deliverables needed to comply with ISO/IEC 17025, ILAC-G8, ILAC-P14, A540-1, and Z540.3, so you'll know what to look for in calibration reports from calibration labs claiming to comply with these standards.

Accreditation. Why it Matters?
Is an "accredited cal" different from a calibration from an "accredited laboratory"? If two calibration laboratories are both accredited do they have the same quality? What is the risk to you if you order a calibration from a lab and some of the measurements are outside their published "scope-of-accreditation"? Unfortunately, accreditation is often confusing, but it doesn't have to be! This video de-mystifies accreditation, answers these questions, and provides you with a clear understanding on how to determine what you should look for in an accredited calibration lab.

Z540.3 Compliance. How?
New contracts with Z540.3 "flow-down" requirements are probably a matter of time if you currently require Z540-1 calibrations. ANSI/NCSL Z540.3-2006 requires that "the probability that incorrect acceptance decisions (false accept) will result from calibration tests shall not exceed 2% and shall be documented..." This video explains "probability of false acceptance" in simple terms, then covers compliance methods, and finally, availability of Z540.3 calibration for Keysight Technologies instruments.

Out-of-Cal Instruments Cause “Bad” Pass/Fail Decisions
This video shows an amplifier “Failing” an important performance test when measured with an out-of-spec instrument, yet it “Passes” once the spectrum analyzer is restored to warranted OEM specifications.

De-Mystifying Calibration Accreditation Webinar
If two calibration laboratories are both accredited do they have the same quality? Is an "accredited calibration" different from getting a calibration from an "accredited laboratory"? What is the risk to you if you order a calibration from a lab and some of the measurements are outside their published "scope-of accreditation"? Unfortunately, accreditation is often a source of confusion for many people, but it doesn't have to be! We will de-mystify accreditation, answer these questions, and provide you with a clear understanding on how to determine what you should look for in an accredited calibration lab.
