Spectrum allocated for us Land Mobile Radio (LMR):

  • Very high frequency (VHF) low band: 25-50 MHz – longer range capability, larger area coverage such as states
  • VHF high band: 150-174 MHz – mid range capability, medium range coverage like cities or counties
  • 220 MHz band – public safety licenses issued on channels 161-170 and channels 181-185
  • Ultra high frequency (UHF) band: 450-470 MHz – low-power channels usually used for short-range to cover smaller areas
  • T-Band: 470-512 MHz – designated for UHF-TV sharing; only available in limited areas
  • 700 narrowband: 768-775/798-805 MHz – commonly used by various public-safety agencies
  • 806-809/851-854 MHz: National Public Safety Planning Advisory Committee (NPSPAC) band
  • 800 MHz band: 809-815/854-860 MHz – used by public safety and other industries
  • 3.5 GHz – Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) band
  • 4.9 GHz band: 4940-4990 MHz – ad hoc mobile or mesh networks, WiFi hotspots, voice over IP, temporary fixed communications, and various fixed point-to-point or point-to-multipoint applications
  • 5.9 GHz band: 5850-5925 MHz – Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) mainly for use in vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) applications
