Procedure to install L4400 Firmware Updates:

  1. Download and install the Keysight L4400 Firmware Update Utility located in the Documents & Downloads section at the bottom of this page. If you already have the Firmware Update Utility installed on your computer, skip this step.
  2. Download the latest Keysight L4400 Firmware Revision located in the Documents & Downloads section at the bottom of this page.
  3. Unzip the Keysight L4400 Firmware Revision file, making note of where you store the unzipped file.
  4. Open the Firmware Update Utility (Start -> Programs -> Keysight -> Firmware Update Utility).
  5. Click Next.
  6. Click Browse and locate the firmware update file (agtL4400Series_instrument_rev251.xs) that you unzipped in step 3. Highlight the file and select Open.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Select the I/O interface (LAN or optional GPIB) that connects your L4400 series instrument to your PC.
  9. Choose the settings necessary for communication (IP address, GPIB address).
  10. Click Update. NOTE: This update will take several minutes and will automatically reboot the instrument when completed. DO NOT cycle or interrupt power to the instrument during the update process.
  11. After this is completed, exit the update utility.

Note: For L4445A, remember to connect the 34945EXT to the L4445A before doing the firmware update.

If the ‘ATTN’ annunciator is illuminated following the update/reboot process, cycle power again AFTER the update process completes. If the annunciator remains illuminated, contact Keysight for further assistance.

Repeat this process for each L4400 series instrument

Note: Re-calibration of selected instruments following a firmware update is not required.
