E1852A Software/Firmware Download

The installation procedure is in three parts:

Part 1: Uninstall any previous E1852A software

Part 2: Installs the MMI to the PC

Part 3: Installs the Firmware to the E1852A

Note: Contains version A.00.09 MMI & Firmware for use with Keysight E1852A only

Part 1: Uninstall

Note: This must be carried out if the host PC has previously installed E1852A software

If the host PC has had E1852A software previously installed. Select [Start], [Settings], [Control Panel], [Add/Remove Programs]

Select E1852A and press the [Add/Remove...] key. Follow the on screen instructions to uninstall

Note: If and when prompted delete all files including *.dll files

Part 2: MMI Installation

• If your PC does not have the winzip application. Download and Install winzip from the link at www.winzip.com
• Download the software to your host PC from the Download link, recommended directory C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\E1852A
• Double click on the zipped file named 'E1852A-A0009'. Select [Extract], [Save]. Recommended directory C:WINDOWSTEMPE1852A
• Open the folder C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\E1852A. Double click the file named 'setup.exe' and follow the on screen instructions to install the MMI to your host PC

Part 3: Firmware Installation

• Connect the E1852A to the PC with the parallel cable provided
• On the PC select [Start], [Programs], [Keysight Technologies] and click the E1852A Debug version. Note: only the Debug version will download FW to the E1852A.
• From the E1852A System menu select the host PC's serial port (default Com1) from the Firmware Update section and press Download
• Highlight the file *.bsf file and select [Open]
• The procedure will then prompt for the following; 1. Connect the serial cable provided from the PC's serial port and the E1852A serial port, 2. Recycle the power, Switch the E1852A [Off] then [On] before clicking [OK]
• Both the Firmware Version & PC DLL Version within the E1852A System menu, Software Version section should now be the same, example A.00.09.
• Close the E1852A software and reopen. On the PC select [Start], [Programs], [Keysight Technologies] and click either the standard or debug mode version.
