EV & HEV DC:DC Converter Testing Seminar

Understand and test DC:DC converters for conversion efficiency

The DC:DC converter is a key component in electric vehicles' (EV) and hybrid-electric vehicles (HEV) powertrain architectures, converting the higher voltage bus to the traditional 12V power bus, from where most electrical loads are powered. As more and more DC:DC converters become bidirectional, testing both directions of power flow requires test equipment that is capable of sourcing and sinking power to the DC:DC converter. This seminar will demonstrate Keysight's test solution and techniques to help automotive engineers optimize the EV powertrain design and performance and understand interoperability and conformance faults in the interaction of the EV and EV supply equipment.

Growing demand for advanced radar technologies, such as 79GHz high frequency with 4GHz wide modulation bandwidth and micro-Doppler to detect and protect pedestrians, has led to new design and test challenges. With the wide-scale adoption of radar, interference is now a very real issue to solve. Guest presenters from Michigan Technological University and Sekisui Chemical Group will contribute knowledge around radar absorbers and mutual interference. In our three (3) breakout sessions, we will review advanced automotive radar design and test solutions from simulation through R&D and deployment:

  • Automotive Radar Design Simulation & RF System Analysis:
    - Create custom radar waveforms, simulated targets, mmWave impairments, and MIMO antenna arrays
  • Radar Signal Generation & Analysis Using New Automation Tool:
    - Generate 4GHz bandwidth mmW automotive radar signals
    - Demodulate 4GHz bandwidth mmW FMCW radar signals
    - Analyze chirp parameters such as FM error/slope
  • Radar Interference:
    - Demonstrate effects on target detection using radar target simulator, Compact Antenna Test Range, and interference source

Electric Vehicle Charging Discovery System (CDS)

Both development and increased sales of electric vehicles (EV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) depend on the expansion and utilization of the charging infrastructure and electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE). Due to the relatively recent standards and the resulting lack of experience in the field, faults in the interaction of EV and EVSE can be observed frequently.

Keysight's Charging Discovery System (CDS) is a modular solution for the conformance and interoperability test of EV and EVSE charging interfaces. The CDS modular design can be configured to customers' specific needs for testing and validating the charging interface of electric vehicles and charging infrastructures.

This seminar will include three separate CDS demos:

  1. Charging Station Test (EVSE)
  2. Electric Vehicle Test (EV)
  3. "Man-in-the-Middle" Test (Interface)

All versions of Automotive Ethernet require rigorous testing: IEEE 802.3bw, IEEE 802.3bp, and OABR 3.2. Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) is an extension to IEEE 802.1 that makes Ethernet deterministic, more robust, and more reliable. The specified tests covering transmitters, receivers, and harness/connector assemblies, are more complex than what most automotive engineers have done in the past. When you move to this new evolving technology with complex test requirements, be prepared.

Participate in hands-on labs to learn how to test and make critical measurements on Ethernet based designs. Keysight will show solutions to address 100Base-T1 and 1000Base-T1, electrical, protocol, and link segments based on our Infinium real-time oscilloscopes and vector network analyzers.

After presenting a technical overview, this workshop will include three separate breakout sessions with demonstrations:

  • Breakout Session #1: Physical Layer – Time-Domain/Oscilloscope Based
  • Breakout Session #2: Physical Layer – Frequency Domain/Network Analyzer Based
  • Breakout Session #3: Up the Stack – Capture of Live Traffic at the Higher Layer

Automotive Cybersecurity (ACS)

The fully autonomous vehicle is the dream for most automakers and their customers around the world. To make this happen, the car needs to be connected to the outside world. These connections, however, expose the car to outside interference.

A single cyber-attack can cost an automaker in the region of $1 Billion. Not only that, it can cause severe damage to a brand’s value and integrity, leaving consumers questioning their trust in the brand.

Keysight can help you find vulnerabilities before anyone else does. Keysight provides a complete Automotive Cybersecurity (ACS) solution from the hardware level through all layers of the OSI stack. The automated end-to-end security testing covers all relevant access interfaces on a platform that will enable you to detect and fix vulnerabilities quicker allowing faster time to market.

AGENDA

  • Introduction to ACS
  • Gateway Security (Infineon)
  • Demo
  • ACS from a Network Perspective
    - Network infrastructure security
    - End-to-end application security
    - Automotive gateway security
