Constructing a Complete Microgrid Testbed

小冊子

This document presents a comprehensive overview of how to design and implement a complete microgrid testbed to support end-to-end testing of next-generation microgrid technologies. As microgrids become increasingly important to grid modernization—enhancing stability, enabling higher renewable penetration, and supporting advanced smart grid operation—the need for thorough, real-world-representative testing has grown significantly. The flyer outlines the key technical challenges associated with microgrid deployment, particularly the complexity of managing interoperability among diverse generation sources, energy storage systems, electric vehicles, and connected loads, as well as interactions with the main electrical grid.

To address these challenges, the document describes a modular testbed architecture capable of accurately emulating real-world microgrid conditions. Core components include AC grid and source emulation, bidirectional EV and EVSE emulation, battery storage emulation, solar photovoltaic emulation, and configurable microgrid load emulation. The inclusion of unified software for automation, control, and analysis is emphasized as a critical enabler for accelerating development workflows and improving test repeatability. The flyer concludes by highlighting how Keysight Technologies’ solutions can fulfill each required role within the testbed and invites readers to engage with solutions specialists for consultation on microgrid testbed construction.
