An audio analyzer is a high-precision instrument used to test and evaluate the audio performance of analog and digital devices. It measures key parameters such as distortion, noise, bandwidth, and voice quality with exceptional accuracy, making it ideal for applications in R&D, manufacturing, and wireless audio testing. With support for multiple analog channels, as well as digital interfaces like AES3, SPDIF, and Bluetooth, it enables comprehensive analysis of everything from high-fidelity audio equipment to communication devices.
An audio analyzer is capable of analyzing a wide range of audio signals, including:
Residual distortion in an audio analyzer refers to the distortion and noise inherently generated by the analyzer itself during the measurement process. It defines the lowest level of total harmonic distortion (THD) and noise the instrument can measure, effectively setting the baseline or "floor" for distortion measurements. This characteristic is critical because it determines the analyzer's ability to accurately evaluate the performance of high-fidelity audio devices. If a device under test (DUT) has lower distortion than the analyzer’s residual distortion, the measurement will be limited by the analyzer’s own imperfections rather than the actual performance of the DUT. A low residual distortion ensures that the analyzer contributes minimal interference to the signal path, allowing precise assessment of audio components such as amplifiers, DACs, and signal processors. This level of performance is particularly important in applications where ultra-low noise and high signal integrity are required, such as professional audio equipment design, high-end consumer electronics, and communication systems.
