PathWave Device Modeling 2024 is available now!

The new W7008E Model Generator Re-centering and Target Modeling add-on.

PathWave Device Modeling (IC-CAP) 2024 features critical improvements to the Model Generator, the platform, and Python 3 IC-CAP API. The Model Generator (MG) framework simplifies the management and organization of modeling extraction projects. With just one click, you can import and organize various data types, preview and filter them before modeling, and quickly add parameter extraction steps with tuners/optimizers or Python scripts. With MG, it is easy to define custom extraction steps for tuning and optimization. New in 2024 is the Recentering and Targeting modeling add-on to adjust a model to match new process targets. It uses tuning and optimization techniques to align critical parameters. The recentering process starts with the current library's transistor models. The tool provides the ability to adjust trend plots in real time and efficiently simulate data points from various devices and temperatures. You can also monitor overall errors through a convenient table and generate reports. To use the W7008E add-on, you will need the W7300B PathWave IC-CAP Modeling Platform or the following elements: W7001E PathWave IC-CAP Core Environment and the W7010E PathWave IC-CAP Simulation.

The MG works with any device model and ADS or HSPICE simulators; however, Keysight's PathWave Advanced Design System (ADS) is recommended to maximize performance.

New Model Generator RF De-embedding Tool and MG UX improvements

The latest update in IC-CAP 2024 includes a new RF de-embedding tool that enables you to apply standard or custom short/load/through RF de-embedding to the imported S-parameters data before the extraction. You can define calibration sets and apply them to the available devices using a convenient dialog. New in the 2024 Model Generator are also several usability and performance enhancements. Loading measured data loading time is up to 4x faster in 2024, and the Scaling Plots page features new UI enhancements. Native HSPICE now supports LSYNC and simultaneous AC and DC simulations; therefore, HSPICE is fully supported in the MG. Reporting now includes MS Word format.

The Model Generator MEXTRAM Extraction Example

The IC-CAP Model Generator (ICMG) Suite adds a new example project for the MEXTRAM Bipolar Junction Transistor (BJT) industry-standard model. The example showcases organizing and importing the data and features a full extraction flow with temperature scaling. Check out the example and run the full extraction to see how all the MEXTRAM parameters are automatically extracted.
