Highlights

SimXTRACT overcomes the problem of understanding composite GNSS signals in a real environment, and how & why they affect a PNT device’s performance, by decomposing captured I/Q data from record and playback systems into discrete line-of-sight signals, multipath, and precise ground truth. This enables the creation of a fully editable GNSS simulation scenarios that replicate the original environment, but in a Keysight PNT emulator with the full control and manipulation that these tools provide.

It allows users to apply the effects of real signals right from the beginning and throughout the R&D cycle, identifying device performance anomalies sooner, before they become expensive and time consuming to rectify, and ensuring product will work in the real GNSS environment.

Signal decomposition and analysis

  • Breaks down recorded IQ data into discrete components — line-of-sight and multipath — with Doppler error, error code and power level metadata
  • Supports GPS (L1, L5) and Galileo (E1, E5a); GLONASS, BeiDou, and Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) support coming soon
  • Enables analysis of multipath and other attributes for a given field recording intuitively on a map

Test workflow and integration

  • Outputs scenario test files compatible with Keysight PNT emulators (PNT X, GSS7000, PNT Xe)
  • Runs on a dedicated Laptop PC
  • Searches decomposed data by multipath, satellites in view, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and signal type

Development efficiency

  • Reduces issue resolution time by up to 50%
  • Enables reuse of existing drive test recordings with full signal insight
