Capture and Analyze Wideband RF Recordings

Ultra-wideband radio frequency (RF) recording requires a high-fidelity acquisition front end, continuous high-speed data transfer, and storage capable of maintaining a sustained stream of in-phase/quadrature (IQ) data. The analyzer digitizes the incoming RF signal with a 14-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and transfers fully corrected IQ data through the Optical Data Interface (ODI) to a PXIe RAID array for file storage.

The ODI stream is also passed to a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) on the workstation for real-time fast Fourier transform (FFT) viewing of the wideband spectrum. The Keysight Record and Playback Manager software controls the recording workflow and file management, while selected portions of the recorded file can be exported to Keysight Vector Signal Analysis software (89600 VSA) for detailed measurement and analysis.

Ultra-Wideband RF Recording Solution

Wideband RF recording requires a high-fidelity signal analyzer, high-speed data transport, sustained storage, and software for recording control and signal review. The solution combines an X-Series analyzer with Optical Data Interface connectivity, PXIe RAID storage, a workstation FPGA, and Record and Playback Manager software. It captures gapless 14-bit fully corrected IQ data at bandwidths up to 2 GHz, provides a real-time spectrum view from FPGA-based fast Fourier transforms, and supports selection and export of recorded segments to PathWave Vector Signal Analysis software (89600 VSA) for detailed analysis. The architecture supports wideband radar, communications, and complex spectrum monitoring workflows.
