In automated test environments, the adage “time is money” is never more prevalent. Thus, speed of test is critical. The faster you are able to test a device, the more money you will save. Keysight’s M9111A PXIe High-Speed Source/Measure Unit (SMU) was specifically designed for this environment. It helps you achieve high-throughput, while maintaining measurement quality in design validation and production test of power amplifiers.

The M9111A can change its output voltage, stabilize that voltage, and accurately measure current from Amps down to micro-Amps all in less than 1 ms so that you can move on to the next test as quickly as possible.

The M9111A is a 1-slot, 2-quadrant PXIe module that provides stable, glitch-free sourcing and sinking, and high accuracy measurements. It offers high-throughput and measurement quality for design validation and production test of RF power amplifiers. With industry-leading output stability under extreme, dynamic load conditions and unmatched transient performance to dramatically reduce voltage drop due to pulse loading, the M9111A SMU speeds test time. The high-speed M9111A can change its output voltage, stabilize that voltage, and accurately measure current from Amps down to micro-Amps all in less than 1 ms so that you can move on to the next test as quickly as possible.

The M9111A is part of the Keysight RF power amplifier/front-end module (PA/FEM) reference solution, which enables rapid, full characterization of next-generation power amplifier modules, such as power-amplifier devices, including S-parameter, demodulation, power, adjacent channel power and harmonic distortion measurements. This Reference Solution addresses two key test challenges facing PA/FEM manufacturers: reducing cost and increasing data throughput.

The Keysight M9614A is a PXIe five-channel source / measure unit (SMU). It supports accurate measurement up to 30 V / 500 mA with resolution down to 6 μV / 100 pA. While a PXIe SMU improves channel density compared with a benchtop SMU, the M9614A enables higher channel density in the same footprint. They also provide a wider output range than a conventional PXIe four-channel SMU at a lower cost per channel. Pulsed and sampling capabilities allow the M9614A to perform a variety of measurements, from DC to pulsed measurements, with pulse width down to 100 μs at a sampling rate of 500 kSa/s. Their seamless current measurement ranging function reduces test duration by eliminating the time it takes to change the range and expands the dynamic range to cover four measurement ranges. These capabilities make the M9614A suitable for applications that require high channel density, such as semiconductor reliability testing and integrated circuit (IC) tests.

The M9048B is a PCIe host interface card for computers with PCIe expansion slots. It provides a high performance link from an external computer to an AXIe or PXIe Chassis. The card has a Gen 3 x8 PCIe cable link capable of achieving speeds up to 8 GB/s. This means a high performance system can be built using desktop or rack-mounted computers.

The M9048B utilizes a PCIe switch and clock isolation to provide a high quality clock source driven down the PCIe cable to the PXIe or AXIe chassis. Therefore, it always provides the same high-performance PCIe link regardless of the PC that it’s placed in.

The card utilizes an x8 Molex cable connector and should be used with x8 to x8 PCIe cables tested to operate at Gen 3 speeds such as the Keysight Y1202A or Y1203A. Operation is transparent to the software application and no software drivers are required.

The M9022A is a PXIe System Module and is installed in the system slot of a PXIe chassis. When combined with an appropriate host adapter, it will provide a high data BW connection between the host PC and the chassis. The module can also be used with an M9037A PXIe embedded controller to interconnect two chassis in a multi-chassis system.

To ensure the best performance, the M9022A should be paired with a Gen 3 x8 Host PC card such as the Keysight M9048B. An x8 PCIe cable tested to operate at Gen 3 speeds such as the Keysight Y1202A or Y1203A should also be used.

The M9185A is a fully independent, isolated D/A converter that is capable of supplying high voltage levels in parallel of up to eight or sixteen channels. Each channel is able to output up to ±16V as stimulus signals to Device Under Tests (DUTs).

The M9185A DAC also comes with a built-in SENSE mechanism, which is able to detect the output voltage levels and feedback the information to the DAC circuitry to compensate for the voltage drop at the receiving end of a DUT. Hence the accuracy of the stimulus signal is ensured.

Equipped with the ability of supplying voltage levels of up to ±16V and a SENSE feature, the M9185A suits perfectly for the automotive industry where operating voltages range between 12V to 14V and signal accuracy is always an important factor.
