As wireless communication systems continue to evolve, receiver testing becomes increasingly complex, requiring precise and flexible signal generation. This video explores how the Keysight MXG 4-channel signal generator streamlines testing for critical applications, including blocking tests, coexistence testing, and carrier aggregation.
We begin by demonstrating a blocking test, where the MXG generates both a desired signal and a high-power interference signal, illustrating the need for high dynamic range in receiver testing. Next, we explore a coexistence test, simulating real-world interference conditions using multiple signals while maintaining a clean spectral output free of local oscillator (LO) feedthrough and unwanted images. This distortion is often a challenge with traditional IQ modulator-based generators versus the MXG’s direct digital synthesis architecture.
Finally, we examine a carrier aggregation test, demonstrating how the MXG’s multi-channel capability enables realistic multi-band signal generation. This test highlights the importance of simulating disparate frequency bands, which single-channel signal sources cannot achieve. Throughout the video, we leverage PathWave Signal Creation software and a UXA signal analyzer to visualize and validate test results.
By integrating multiple phase-coherent channels in a compact form factor, the MXG provides a highly efficient solution for next-generation receiver testing. This demonstration underscores the importance of multi-channel signal generation in modern RF test setups, ensuring reliable and accurate validation of communication systems.
