How to Validate Cloud Consolidation Initiatives

Validate Cloud Consolidation Performance

Operators consolidating multiple vendor-specific private clouds onto a single Kubernetes-based platform aim to cut capital spend, remove redundant equipment, and standardize operations without degrading service. Engineers must confirm that the new infrastructure meets performance targets for latency-sensitive services such as voice and video, benchmark cloud and core resiliency before migration, and validate service behavior before and after each network function moves in every market region. Because the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and other core functions move in stages over several years, the same measurements must be repeatable across lab, staging, and production.

The main obstacle is visibility. Existing commercial and open-source tools typically focus on post-deployment monitoring, lack end-to-end observability, and cannot correlate cloud-native network function (CNF) metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) with application performance. Without that correlation, engineers cannot tell whether a latency or quality change originates in the cloud infrastructure, a network function, or the hosted application. As the platform scales, operations teams also need continuous insight into network function launch, scaling, and performance, plus a consistent test process that fits continuous integration, deployment, and testing (CI/CD/CT) pipelines so new 5G use cases can launch without added budget or staff.

Cloud Consolidation Validation Solution

Keysight combines Landslide and the VisionWorks Service Assurance Platform to cover the consolidation lifecycle from lab to production. In the lab, Landslide with CNF resiliency testing benchmarks cloud infrastructure performance and validates cloud and IMS core resiliency before services move. In staging and production, VisionWorks manages network function launch, scaling, and performance, correlating CNF metrics and KPIs with application performance to isolate whether an issue originates in the infrastructure, a network function, or the application. Both validate service performance before and after migration in each market region and integrate with an existing test case data lake for consistent testing across all stages. Keysight Velocity automation can extend this process into CI/CD/CT pipelines. The approach supports a Tier 1 operator's consolidation targeting a 35 percent reduction in annual capital expenditure.
