The test defines which links experience packet drops, how frequently impairment occurs, and where traffic is mirrored or measured during the experiment.

The workflow applies packet loss or link-level impairment during active traffic while monitoring throughput, forwarding continuity, and path-level statistics. Engineers can repeat the same failure scenario across fabric tiers, Equal-Cost Multi-Path (ECMP) modes, and traffic loads to compare system behavior under controlled failure conditions.

Performing this test requires controlled packet-loss or link-impairment events applied to an active fabric topology. Fabric Emulator supports impairments that drop frames on selected links during experiments, along with background load, port mirroring, and hop-by-hop statistics.
