Validate Input Threshold Margins

Input threshold margin failures are difficult to isolate when a device changes state near marginal voltage levels, slow edges, or small changes in pulse amplitude. A device may pass nominal pulse tests but fail when input high levels, low levels, transition rates, or threshold crossing points approach boundary conditions.

The challenge is separating device threshold behavior from uncontrolled behavior in the upstream signal path. If the source cannot hold levels, edges, and timing repeatably, engineers may not know whether failures are caused by the device input threshold, signal amplitude margin, edge placement, or stimulus variation.

Threshold Margin Validation Solution

Input threshold margin validation requires applying a known pulse stimulus and adjusting signal levels, edge behavior, and timing around expected input switching points.
