AI is redefining infrastructure. Can measurement keep up?

datacloud

This paper will be delivered by Yashodhan Kulkarni on November 12 at electronica 2026.

AI is redefining the infrastructure that powers the digital world. As compute, memory, networking, and photonics evolve to meet the demands of increasingly complex AI workloads, engineering complexity is accelerating faster than traditional validation approaches can keep pace. Bandwidths beyond 100GHz if not 200GHz and technologies beyond 1.6T (224G) like 3.2T (448G), heterogeneous architectures, and the convergence of electrical and optical technologies are fundamentally reshaping the challenge of building AI infrastructure.

This session explores how AI is transforming the role of measurement from a standalone activity into an integrated engineering workflow. Through real-world examples spanning compute, memory, networking, and photonics, it will examine the technologies and methodologies enabling engineers to accelerate innovation while confidently delivering the next generation of AI infrastructure.

But keeping pace requires more than faster instruments. It demands a new approach to engineering, where design exploration, protocol emulation, system validation, and high-speed measurement work together to deliver confidence from concept through deployment.

Speaker: Yashodhan Kulkarni
