Due to their standalone nature, engineers and lab managers should consider their needs carefully when choosing their fixed-configuration oscilloscope.
Keysight fixed-configuration sampling oscilloscopes provide the same measurement quality for optical and electrical signals and the same software support as other form factors while offering significant advantages for specific applications and needs. But there are cases where a benchtop oscilloscope would be preferable.
Standalone oscilloscopes are not upgradable in channel count or bandwidth, so you will need to add additional units as test needs evolve. Modular systems allow for upgrades to the mainframe.
Fixed-configuration oscilloscopes also do not come with screens, so you will need an external monitor to configure and operate the oscilloscope. This can be an advantage for automated test programs, but for lab-based development and validation, it may be an important consideration to have a built-in screen for viewing and analyzing signals.
