Multi-Domain Systems (SimulationX) marks a new era in the history of its evolution since it is the first major release under the umbrella of Keysight Technologies, a spin-off of Hewlett-Packard, into which the ESI Group is now fully integrated as of May 1, 2025. Keysight, whose name is a blend of key and insight, manufactures electronic test and measurement equipment and software making it the ideal partner for system simulation.

Major New Features of Multi-Domain Systems (SimulationX) 2025.1

Libraries

  • The Batteries library has been extended with Cell and Stack models for dynamic behavior and aging effects plus improved performance for Detailed Stack models.
  • The Heat Transfer library includes new two-phase heat exchangers where both phases can have different velocities.
  • The Ship Energy Systems library has been completely overhauled and now includes new fluids and sub-components for modeling liquid gas fuel transport and vaporization processes
  • Driving Maneuvers and MBS Mechanics libraries now allow for loading and visualizing OpenCRG files as an alternative to OBJ files for the road surface
  • New ESP Controller model for hydraulic brake systems
  • Numerous new sample models

User Experience

  • New FEM Import tool (beta) for generating elastic 3D mechanical models in Modelica from reduced FEM models saved in Standard Input Data files (SID)
  • SimulationX command line option allows for simulations to be executed in batch mode or interactive mode with extensive configuration options
  • Arrangement of multiple views of a single model is now included with the model, and customizations of the ribbon menu can now be saved.

Code Export

  • Additional license for code export permitting the export of license-free FMUs without source code
  • Overhauled code export workflow with new options to export/import partial models or single components as FMUs
  • Obfuscation of source code now helps to protect intellectual property
