Follow these steps to update your software:

A. Download and Install the 5000/6000 Series Oscilloscope System Software (sys6000.jzp) or 7000 Series Oscilloscope Software (sys7000a.jzp).

B. Download and Install the 5000/6000 or 7000 Series Oscilloscope Language Software, Library Software , and Graphics Software.

Complete the following steps once to update your System software, and again to update your Language Software, Library software, and Graphics Software.

  1. Connect the oscilloscope to your LAN using an appropriate LAN cable.
  2. On your computer, select the appropriate 5000/6000 or 7000 Series oscilloscope software download link in the Documents & Downloads section (below) and save the file to your computer's Desktop.
  3. On the oscilloscope, press the Utility key and then press the I/O softkey. (On 6000L Series oscilloscopes, you will need to start a Remote Front Panel session using the Web interface. See the 6000 Series Oscilloscopes User's Guide for details.)
  4. Press the Configure softkey and select LAN.
  5. Press the LAN Settings softkey and configure the oscilloscope for your LAN. If your network uses DHCP, the default settings may work. Contact your Network Administrator if you need help configuring the oscilloscope’s LAN settings for your network.
  6. Press the Apply key to apply the LAN settings you have selected.
  7. On your computer, direct your web browser to the oscilloscope (for example, http://123.45.67.890). The computer will display the oscilloscope’s web page.
Note: To view the oscilloscope’s IP address, press the Utility key, then press the I/O softkey. The oscilloscope’s “Current I/O Configuration,” including its IP address will be displayed.
  8. On the oscilloscope’s web page that is displayed on your computer, select the Instrument Utilities tab, then select the Browse button, and navigate to the downloaded file on your computer’s desktop. Press the Install button to install the new software. There will be no activity on either display for a minute or so while the file is being accessed from the network, so please be patient.
  9. After the pause, the oscilloscope will begin loading the new file, and a progress bar will be displayed on the oscilloscope to show that the file is being downloaded. This process may take a few minutes. Do not shut off the power while the file is loading. Please note that a power loss at this time may cause the instrument to become inoperable. If you have problems, select the “If you have problems loading application software” link below.
  10. The oscilloscope will automatically reboot when new System Software, Library Software, or Graphics Software have been installed.
  11. Select the “Refresh” button in your web browser to refresh the oscilloscope’s web page.
  12. To see if the oscilloscope requires re-calibration, press Utility -> Service -> User Cal Status. If "Results: OK" is displayed, you do not need to recalibrate. If calibration is required, press the Start User Cal softkey.
