Switch Mode Power Testing Using Infiniium EXR-Series Oscilloscopes

Switch mode power supplies (SMPS) are widely used in electronic devices for their efficiency and functionality, but they also pose challenges for testing and analysis due to their high-frequency switching and complex waveforms. To test SMPS, engineers need tools that can measure inputs, outputs, efficiency, switching devices, and frequency response analysis. Keysight Technologies offers the Infiniium EXR-Series oscilloscopes, which have power analysis software that provides quick and easy automatic testing of SMPS. The EXR-Series oscilloscopes have 500 MHz bandwidth, 8-channel models with optional 50 MHz arbitrary waveform generator and 16 digital logic channels. The EXR-Series oscilloscopes also support various software options for SMPS testing, such as Power Supply Test Software (D9010PWRA), Low Speed Protocol Decode/Trigger Software (D9010LSSP), and Frequency Response Analysis Software (D9010FRAA). For SMPS testing, Keysight recommends using the following probes and accessories: U1880A Power Measurement Deskew Fixture, N2790A High-Voltage Differential Probe, 10076C High-Voltage Probe, N7026A High-Sensitivity Current Probe, PicoTest J2120A Injector, and PicoTest J2101A Transformer.
