How to Validate Frequency-Agile Radar Receivers

Validate Complex Radar Receiver Performance

Radar receiver validation requires controlled radio frequency (RF) signals and sufficient acquisition bandwidth to capture the amplitude, phase, frequency, and timing characteristics presented to the receiver. Complex pulsed signals can be generated across changing RF conditions while the receiver output is captured for analysis.

Signal acquisition requires a digitizer, real-time oscilloscope, or vector signal analyzer with bandwidth and sampling performance appropriate for the radar waveform. Captured signals can be analyzed in the time and frequency domains, while long or continuous acquisitions provide visibility into events that may otherwise be lost between individual waveform captures.

Frequency-Agile Radar Receiver Validation Solution

Radar receiver validation requires controlled signal generation followed by sufficient acquisition bandwidth and capture time to analyze the receiver response. Keysight Agile Signal Generators offer high-bandwidth acquisition and analysis to exercise the receiver using complex pulsed radar conditions. Captured signals can be evaluated using vector signal analysis, digitizers, or real-time oscilloscopes to examine amplitude, phase, frequency, timing, and other waveform characteristics. For longer scenarios, continuous or extended waveform capture helps preserve events that can be missed during acquisition-memory transfers, supporting detailed analysis of receiver behavior across changing signal conditions.
