Megawatt Charging Discovery System – Flexible Testing for Next-Generation Standards

Megawatt charging is a key enabler for zero-emission heavy-duty transport, from long-haul trucks and buses to industrial and fleet applications. As the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) pushes charging power into the multi-megawatt range, reliable validation of safety, interoperability, and system behavior becomes critical throughout development and certification.

The Keysight SL2600A Megawatt Charging Discovery System is a modular, future-ready test platform designed to validate megawatt charging interfaces of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure under realistic laboratory conditions. Supporting voltages up to 1,500 V DC and currents up to 1,500 A DC, the SL2600A enables comprehensive testing from early communication verification to full power megawatt charging scenarios.

Built around a flexible core architecture, the SL2600A can emulate both EV and EVSE roles within a single solution. For EV testing, it acts as a fully configurable megawatt-class charging station, enabling validation of vehicle charging behavior, safety mechanisms, and charging communication under high-power loads. For EVSE testing, the system emulates a next-generation electric vehicle to verify charging-station performance, interoperability, and compliance in a controlled and repeatable way. This dual-use capability reduces test complexity while accelerating development cycles.

The modular design enables realistic configurations for different test objectives. When combined with the SL2620A Charging Cable Unit, featuring a liquid-cooled MCS charging cable, the SL2600A supports full power EV validation up to 1,500 A DC with stable thermal performance. With the SL2610A Inlet Unit, the system provides a vehicle-side MCS interface for realistic and repeatable EVSE testing, including controlled high-current operation with bidirectional power sources.
