Validate Small Cell RF

Multiband 5G New Radio (NR) small-cell testing requires signal generation and analysis across Frequency Range 1 (FR1) and Frequency Range 2 (FR2) operating bands, with measurements for transmitter modulation quality, spectral leakage, output power, and occupied bandwidth. The setup must support conducted and over-the-air paths, repeatable calibration, and sufficient bandwidth to evaluate carrier aggregation and wideband channel behavior.

The test stimulates the small-cell transmitter with a defined 5G NR waveform, captures the resulting radio-frequency output, and demodulates the signal to measure error vector magnitude (EVM) and adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR). Engineers can compare results across bands, bandwidths, power levels, and beam or antenna configurations to isolate impairments in the radio, mmWave path, or test setup.

Test Multiband Small Cell Solution

To test multiband small-cell performance, begin by configuring the device under test for the target 5G NR bands and generating the required waveform. The Keysight Multi-Band Vector Transceiver supports this approach with compact, scalable base-station testing across FR1 and FR2 signal paths. It enables small-cell and mmWave base-station validation, including over-the-air test requirements, carrier aggregation, wide bandwidths, and massive multiple-input / multiple-output (MIMO) complexity.
