Highlights

The Stack-Max is the highest-capacity Octobox automated testbed — a stackable anechoic chamber with built-in emulators, antennas, and programmable radio frequency (RF) attenuators for the full range of Wi-Fi and 5G device testing.

  • Isolates devices under test (DUT) from outside interference for repeatable throughput and performance measurements
  • Supports Wi-Fi standards 802.11b/g/a/n/ac/ax/be — including Wi-Fi 7 and the 6 GHz band — with the Pal-7 test instrument
  • Built-in turntable, multipath emulator, interference generator, and internal antennas
  • Tri-band max throughput (AP-7 and STA-7 configurations); quad-band throughput (Mesh) — the only Stack tier supporting tri-band
  • Multiple-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) over-the-air (OTA) testing across all configuration families, including 4x4 MU-MIMO OTA (Mesh and STA-7)
  • Orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) testing across all configuration families — up to 16 STAs (Mesh and STA-7)
  • Up to 24 station partners (AP-7 configuration), 20 real STAs (Mesh), or 28 real STA partners (STA-7) — the highest capacity across all Stack tiers
  • synchroSniffer probes for synchronized packet capture — 20 (AP-7 and Mesh configurations) or 24 (STA-7)
  • Multiple simultaneous test locations relative to the DUT — up to 4 (AP-7), 5 (Mesh), or 2 + 2 (STA-7)
  • Band steering (AP-7 and Mesh configurations); access point (AP) steering, roaming, co-channel and adjacent channel emulation, and Tracker motion capture playback (Mesh and STA-7)
  • Inline sniffing across all configuration families
  • Automation server with browser user interface (UI), REST application programming interface (API), MongoDB, Express, React, and Node.js
  • Available in three configuration options: Stack-AP-7-Max (access point testing, 24 station partners, 320 MHz single-user MIMO [SU-MIMO] OTA), Stack-Mesh-Max (mesh network testing, 4 nodes, 20 real STAs), and Stack-STA-7-Max (station testing, 2 AP partners, 28 real STA partners)
  • Rate versus range (RvR), RvRvO, RvOvR, and RvRwR testing across all configurations
  • Dynamic frequency selection (DFS) testing with optional iGen; multipath testing with optional multipath emulator (MPE)

Software packages (sold separately):

  • Tracker — plays back motion captures recorded in real-world environments for roaming, steering, and mesh load-balancing scenarios
  • TR-398 Automation Package — executes Broadband Forum TR-398 test cases for AP performance benchmarking
  • RFC 2544 Automation Package — runs Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) RFC 2544 benchmark tests for throughput, latency, frame loss rate, and back-to-back frames
  • Mesh Automation Package — characterizes mesh network performance using black-box testing with simulated real-world home environments
