Recreate Failing Signal Conditions

Signal-integrity failures are difficult to isolate when the failing stimulus comes from a full system path with multiple boards, connectors, cables, drivers, and receivers. The upstream circuit may not provide enough control over timing, voltage levels, edge rates, or waveform shape to separate a device issue from a stimulus or interconnect issue.

Isolating the failure requires replacing or supplementing the upstream source with controlled signal stimulus at the device input. Engineers can adjust timing, levels, edges, pattern behavior, and waveform shape while observing the downstream response to determine which signal condition causes the failure.

Signal-integrity debug requires separating the device response from uncontrolled behavior in the upstream signal path. A pulse generator provides controlled pulse, pattern, function, arbitrary, timing, and noise stimulus for recreating suspected failing conditions at the device input. Engineers can vary timing, voltage levels, edge behavior, pattern content, and waveform shape while monitoring the downstream signal with an oscilloscope or analyzer. The setup helps isolate whether failures are driven by stimulus quality, interconnect effects, input sensitivity, or device response under defined signal conditions.
