More About ISO/IEC 17025

ISO/IEC 17025 is also the basis of the American National Standard for calibration ANSI/NCSL Z540.3. ISO/IEC 17025 defines requirements for the technical competence of calibration and testing laboratories. The focus is on prescriptive technical requirements, including staff qualifications and skills, availability and use of equipment, calibration certificate content, measurement traceability, and uncertainty analysis. Reporting the uncertainty qualifies the accuracy of the measurement and aids your understanding when comparing results from different labs.

ISO/IEC 17025 is the most critical standard relating to test equipment calibration. Conformity assessment bodies use this standard as a basis for laboratory accreditation. A growing number of companies require conformity, and some industries have incorporated their requirements into sector-specific standards, such as IATF 16949. Standard IATF 16949 is prevalent in the automotive supply chain.

Keysight Technologies is committed to meeting ISO/IEC 17025 and is updating processes and expanding capabilities to meet the current requirements. Many of our manufacturing and service locations have independent accreditation by standards bodies such as ANAB in the Americas and UKAS in Europe. Keysight calibration facilities are subject to internal audits for ISO 17025 conformity.
