Highlights

The Stack-Mid is the mid-tier Octobox automated testbed — a stackable anechoic chamber with built-in emulators, antennas, and programmable radio frequency (RF) attenuators for repeatable Wi-Fi and 5G device testing at expanded scale.

  • Isolates devices under test (DUT) from outside interference for repeatable throughput and performance measurements
  • Supports Wi-Fi standards 802.11b/g/a/n/ac/ax/be — including Wi-Fi 7 and the 6 GHz band — with the Pal-7 test instrument
  • Built-in turntable, multipath emulator, interference generator, and internal antennas
  • Multiple simultaneous test locations relative to the DUT — up to 2 (AP-7 configuration), 4 (Mesh), or 1 + 2 (STA-7)
  • Multiple-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) over-the-air (OTA) testing — up to 2 STAs (AP-7 configuration) and 4x4 MU-MIMO OTA (STA-7)
  • Dual-band max throughput (AP-7 and STA-7 configurations); tri-band throughput (STA-7); quad-band throughput (Mesh)
  • synchroSniffer probes for synchronized packet capture — 4 (AP-7 configuration), 16 (Mesh), or 24 (STA-7)
  • Orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) testing with up to 16 STAs (Mesh and STA-7 configurations)
  • Automation server with browser user interface (UI), REST application programming interface (API), MongoDB, Express, React, and Node.js
  • Available in three configuration options: Stack-AP-7-Mid (access point testing, 8 station partners, 320 MHz single-user MIMO [SU-MIMO] OTA), Stack-Mesh-Mid (mesh network testing, 3 nodes, 16 real STAs), and Stack-STA-7-Mid (station testing, 2 AP partners, 24 real STA partners)
  • Quad-band throughput, band steering, access point (AP) steering, roaming, co-channel and adjacent channel emulation, and Tracker motion capture playback in the Mesh configuration
  • Roaming, co-channel and adjacent channel emulation, and Tracker playback also available in the STA-7 configuration
  • Rate versus range (RvR), RvRvO, RvOvR, and RvRwR testing across all configurations
  • Dynamic frequency selection (DFS) testing with optional iGen; multipath testing with optional multipath emulator (MPE)

Software packages (sold separately):

  • Tracker — plays back motion captures recorded in real-world environments for roaming, steering, and mesh load-balancing scenarios
  • TR-398 Automation Package — executes Broadband Forum TR-398 test cases for AP performance benchmarking
  • RFC 2544 Automation Package — runs Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) RFC 2544 benchmark tests for throughput, latency, frame loss rate, and back-to-back frames
  • Mesh Automation Package — characterizes mesh network performance using black-box testing with simulated real-world home environments
