Highlights

Interoperable and failure-free Automotive Ethernet multiGBASE-T1 devices are the goal — receiver testing can help.

Ensuring the receiver component of an Automotive Ethernet module or switch meets signal-quality requirements, is interoperable with others in the system, and complies with the IEEE 802.3ch Automotive Ethernet standard requires physical-layer electrical tests.

The AE6920R Automotive Ethernet 2.5 / 5 / 10GBASE-T1 Receiver Test Compliance Software is a solution that includes control software for the arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) to generate noise profiles defined in the specification. The receiver’s clock recovery and error correction mechanisms are stressed while link performance is monitored. The software ultimately allows for repeatable in-lab testing of real-world signals, creating confidence in the receiver. The repeatability of these test methods and limits fosters broad-scale interoperability and enables implementers to minimize the risk of failure in the field, ensuring the safety of all.
