• Only use the links below if your PC uses the 32 bit Vista operating system. The Data Link software is not currently supported under the 64 bit Vista operating system. If you're not sure which type of Vista you have, click Start, then System, then look for information about System Type.
  • Installation and operation of the Data Link software must be done as a user with administrator privileges.
  • A 100 base T LAN connection should be used. A slower 10 base T LAN connection may cause communication problems.

FieldFox Data Link Software Update for Vista

Preparation:

Installation and operation of the Data Link software must be done as a user with administrator privileges.

Only 32 bit Vista is supported. The Data Link software will not function properly under 64 bit Vista at this time.

Step 1 - Download the update file via the FieldFox Data Link Software Update for Vista link. It is about 180 MB.

Step 2 - Execute the downloaded file on your PC. This will unzip the installation package, install the supporting applications, then finally install the Data Link application. If Keysight IO Libraries are not already installed, it will be installed automatically, select a "typical" installation if prompted.

Software installation is now complete.

See the N9912A Users Guide for instructions on getting started with the software. To set up the LAN connection, follow the procedures in the section titled FieldFox Data Link Software with the following modifications:

Before beginning the section titled Connect a PC to the FieldFox ­ both connected to the Internet, it is assumed that the Vista PC operates over the hard wired LAN connection normally (i.e. able to surf the web, etc).

Whenever any entries on the LAN information screen on the FieldFox have been edited, toggle Apply Settings as the final edit. This will insure that the edited values are stored in the LanConfig.reg file.

Replacement for On the PC under Direct Connection using a LAN cable:

  • Press Start, then Network, then the Network Sharing Center tab.

  • Click View Status for Local Area Connection, then click Properties.

  • Highlight the line for TCP/IPv4 then click Properties.

  • Select Use the following IP address, then enter 192.168.0.2

  • Enter Subnet Mask: 255.255.248.0

  • Click OK and close dialogs

Note: to set the PC LAN to use DHCP instead of a direct connection, select Obtain an IP address automatically in place of Use the following IP address above.
