EM Design (EMPro) 2026 Product Release
Highlights
EM Design (EMPro) 2026 includes:
- Finite Element Method (FEM) simulator aligned with ADS 2026 to enable SMD and packaging vendors to create 3D component libraries for use in ADS-RFPro Circuit-EM simulation environment.
- New 3D Quantum Qubit quantum state detection examples
- The Python version is updated to 3.12..
- HFSS import accepts either .sat or .sab file.
- HPC: Built-in support to submit remote jobs directly to LSF, PBS or Grid Engine clusters from the EMPro user interface was deprecated and has been removed in EMPro 2026.
- FDTD: CUDA GPU acceleration now uses NVIDIA CUDA 12.0 Update 1 libraries, dropping support for accelerated FDTD on older sm_35 and sm_37 "Kepler" type NVIDIA GPUs.
- Bug fixes & workarounds:
- Multiple bug fixes for usability, stability and file management.
- A dialog window cannot be moved on Linux. This applies to all modal dialogs, for example, the Simulation Setup dialog window - Workaround: This is the default behavior on Linux/Gnome. Run gnome-tweaks to disable the Attach Modal Dialogs property.
- Sampled material specifications with too few frequency points can lead to a crash - Workaround: Add more frequency points in the sampled specification.

Open Access (OA) Cellview Save
- Open Access (OA) cellview save enables single footprint to represent multiple 3D SMD components of different parameter values in the same family. Works with ADS 2026 to improve component selection usability & sweeps.
SmartMount 3D Component Save
- SmartMount 3D Component save enables ADS to easily place 3D components as top or bottom mount on a PCB.
Frequency-Domain and Eigenmode FEM Simulation
Frequency-domain and eigenmode FEM simulation setup of a 3D qubit, demonstrating strong agreement with measured quantum parameters extracted via black-box quantization in the frequency domain and the energy participation ratio (EPR) method in the eigenmode domain.
Ref: Electromagnetic Modeling and Scripted Quantum Parameter Extraction of 3D Superconducting Qubits using PathWave EMPro, 2023 IEEE QCE.
Eigenmode Electric Field Distribution
Eigenmode electric field distribution at the qubit resonance and corresponding frequency response when the cavity is driven from the excitation ports.
What’s New in Keysight EM Design 2026?
PathWave EM Design 2026 aligns the FEM simulator usage with ADS 2026 to enable 3D SMD vendor component libraries to be created for easy selection and SmartMount placement as top or bottom mount in ADS 3D physical design. It also includes Qubit state detection examples for quantum computing using cavity eigenmode and frequency domain techniques.
Updates to the latest Python 3.12 with enhanced Python API for field evaluation in FEM eigenmode analysis, and sampling of points and surfaces. Python scripting cookbook can be found in the 'doc' directory in the installation.
Accelerated FDTD supports NVIDA CUDA 12.0 Update 1 libraries and remote jobs are submitted through SiteCluster scripts launched from the UI. Alternatively, HPC Host Service can be used with Design Cloud compute clusters.
Keysight EMPro 2026 also features improved usability, stability, file i/o management.
