EMPro 2017 continues to be a leading 3D electromagnetic modeling and simulation environment, which is also integrated with the ADS 2017 design flow. This latest release offers a number of new capabilities to reduce simulation time (FEM performance improvements, easier to use Python scripting, adaptive meshing) and increase design efficiency (improved parameterization, FEM native field visualization).

Finite Element Method (FEM)

  • Improved FEM performance / speed / meshing robustness and consistency
    • Improvement of initial mesh efficiency
    • Improvements in adaptive mesh algorithm: faster and more consistent mesh convergence
    • Improved adaptive frequency algorithm
      • Avoids zoom-in
      • Better support for parallel frequency sweep calculations
    • Support for mixed order basis functions
    • Reduced footprint on disc (mesh files, S param solution files, field solution files)

    Global performance improvement: on average factor 1.5-2 speed improvement for larger designs pending further validation
    Parallel frequency sweep calculations on single server: factor 1.5-3 speed improvement pending further validation
