The Power Electronics EMI Laboratory is an introductory EMI Curriculum for Electrical and Electronic Engineering Undergraduate Programs. This handbook provides a guidance to the Keysight Power Electronics EMI Laboratory, a hands-on learning experience on fundamentals of EMI in Power Electronics.

 

The case studies proposed in the Laboratory are intended to stimulate the investigation and understanding capabilities of students, beyond the learning of the specific technical topics treated in the experiments.

 

Behavioral models of devices, circuit simulations and experimental tests are the ingredients of the experiments, focusing on the roots of EMI issues in real world power electronics applications.

 

The goal of the Power Electronics EMI Laboratory is to help students in:

  • identifying the sources of noise inside a power electronic circuit,
  • understanding the noise propagation mechanisms,
  • investigating the noise magnification and mixing processes,
  • analyzing the correlations between the noise spectrum and the circuit architecture, the components characteristics, the control type, and the mode of operation,
  • discerning noise worsening factors and viable actions for noise reduction,
  • inferring the fundamentals of low EMI power electronics design.
