Characterize 5G NR RedCap Devices

RedCap stands for Reduced Capability 5G NR devices. 3GPP approved this new device type in Release 17 to make it easier for 5G to be used with IoT devices. The reduced 5G NR capability allows for reduced cost during development and manufacturing. Typically, IoT uses low-cost devices in applications such as wearables, industrial sensors, smart homes and cities, and security and surveillance. The Keysight E7515R UXM 5G wireless test solution is a reduced capability hardware test platform optimized for 5G RedCap & Cellular Internet of Things (CIoT) Technologies. Supporting the latest 3GPP 5G New Radio (NR) Release 17 (Rel-17), the E7515R UXM 5G wireless test solution enables you to establish a 5G call with a device under test (DUT) and perform RF, protocol, functional and performance tests to ensure standards-compliance and user experience of the device.

Built on the same hardware architecture as the market-leading E7515B UXM 5G wireless test platform, the E7515R supports the entire device development workflow, from early design and development through acceptance and certification testing, manufacturing, and repair. The E7515R uses the same proven software solutions as the E7515B.

This solution provides comprehensive test coverage in a single unit, including the following capabilities:

  • Protocol, RF and Functional (IP data, Voice, Battery, etc.) testing
  • Rel-17 RedCap (FDD, HD-FDD, TDD)
  • NB-IoT
  • Cat-M1
  • LTE Cat-1 to Cat-4
