Applikationsberichte
This application note demonstrates how to combine ray-tracing and wave-based simulation methods using Keysight's RSoft tools. When optical structures approach the wavelength scale, ray-tracing becomes inaccurate, and more rigorous techniques like the Beam Propagation Method (BPM) are required.
Using a lens-to-fiber coupling example, the lens is simulated using ray tracing (via CODE V), and the fiber is analyzed using BeamPROP BPM. The RSoft Raytracing Interface allows for seamless data exchange by converting amplitude and phase data from ray-tracing tools into formats able to be used by RSoft simulators. It also supports exporting RSoft simulation results back into CODE V or Zemax.
This hybrid method allows users to simulate full optical systems accurately by using the strengths of both ray-tracing and wave-based methods.
