Keysight Advanced benchtop DC power supplies come in two classes. The NB1-class includes the E36100 Series, and the NB2-class includes the E36200 Series and E36441A power supplies.
Keysight Advanced benchtop DC power supplies come in two classes. The NB1-class includes the E36100 Series, and the NB2-class includes the E36200 Series and E36441A power supplies. Advanced DC power supplies deliver 30 W to 400 W of power to your device under test. The autoranging feature produces more current at all voltage levels. Auto-series and auto-parallel options internally combine the outputs when a single, higher power output source is needed, enabling flexible output utilization for a wide variety of applications. Choose one of our popular configurations or configure one specific to your application.
Automatically adjusts output voltage and current to deliver maximum current at each voltage setting, making it ideal for testing components with dynamic voltage and current requirements.
Improves bench space utilization by providing power over a wide range of voltages and currents, without requiring multiple specialized supplies.
With ripple and noise less than 350 μVrms, the clean output minimizes interference and protects sensitive components during precision circuit testing.
Compensate for voltage drops that occur in the power wires due to resistance — especially important over long cable lengths and high current.

Autoranging power supplies dynamically adjust voltage and current limits to deliver maximum power across a wide range of load conditions. Unlike traditional fixed-range power supplies, an autoranging power supply automatically expands its operating envelope, allowing a single unit to cover multiple test scenarios without manual recalibration or switching between different power supplies.
Key Benefits of Autoranging Power Supplies
1. Wider Operating Range
Autoranging enables a single power supply to deliver high voltage at lower currents and high current at lower voltages, maximizing flexibility across diverse test conditions. This eliminates the need to purchase multiple fixed-range power supplies for different voltage and current levels.
For example, an 800W power supply might be able to provide:
Without autoranging, you would need different power supplies for each voltage-current combination.
2. Eliminates Manual Range Switching
Conventional power supplies have fixed voltage and current ranges, requiring users to manually select different models or reconfigure setups for different test conditions. Autoranging eliminates this limitation, allowing seamless operation across a broad voltage and current range without needing constant manual adjustments.
3. Cost Savings and Reduced Equipment Needs
With autoranging, one power supply can replace multiple fixed-range units, saving on both hardware costs and labor associated with managing multiple power supplies. This is particularly useful in automated test setups, R&D labs, and production environments, where reducing equipment complexity improves efficiency.
4. Ideal for Dynamic Load Testing
Devices with varying power requirements, such as DC-DC converters, battery chargers, and motor controllers, benefit greatly from autoranging power supplies. These power supplies adapt in real time to changing load conditions, ensuring accurate and stable power delivery without requiring manual intervention.
5. Space Efficiency
By consolidating multiple power supplies into one autoranging unit, engineers can free up valuable bench space while maintaining high test coverage. This is especially beneficial in high-density test environments, such as ATE (automated test equipment) systems and manufacturing test stations.
