LightTools Hardware / Operating System Requirements
For additional information on specific platforms and hardware requirements, or for LightTools software pricing information, send an email to [email protected]. You may also open a support case or visit the Keysight Support Portal.
Supported CPUs
- Personal computers with an x64 Intel or AMD processor
- To get maximum performance from multi-threaded simulations, we recommend 4 to 16 CPU cores. LightTools simulation performance scales well with the number of cores, so a computer with 12 or 16 cores can secure an almost linear increase in performance.
- If Intel Hyper-Threading Technology is available on your computer, enabling it will further increase multi-threaded simulation performance.
Supported Microsoft Windows Operating Systems
- Windows 11
RAM Required
- 8 GB minimum, 16 GB recommended (or more for extremely large models or large simulations)
Disk Space Required
- Free disk space as listed to installed LightTools components.
Component |
Disk Space |
|---|---|
Base LightTools product |
3755 MB, plus virtual memory equal to 3 times the RAM |
Online documentation |
172 MB |
Tutorial Files |
131 MB |
Data Exchange Modules, excluding CATIA V5 |
491 MB |
CATIA V5 Modules |
1858 MB |
| SOLIDWORKS Link Module | 75 MB |
- Free disk space on the system drive (i.e., the drive on which the operating system is installed): 10 GB minimum. If LightTools is installed on a drive other than the system drive, that drive should also have at least 10 GB free disk space. Large models and complex analyses may require significantly more disk space.
Additional Software
- For the LightTools’ SOLIDWORKS Link Module, SOLIDWORKS 2023 or higher is required (with the latest service pack, if possible).
- To open and navigate the LightTools manuals that are included with the product as Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF) files, Acrobat Reader version 8.x or higher is required, and it must be your default PDF viewer. Note that if Acrobat Reader is not installed, some browsers may allow the files to open, but hyperlinks and other features in the PDFs may not work as designed.
Display
- Monitor supporting 1280 x 1024 or better resolution recommended.
LightTools supports monitors with high resolution or high DPI (dots per inch). - OpenGL compliant graphics card with stable ICD driver support recommended. We recommend that you always use the latest version of the driver for your graphics card.
GPU Processing
For graphic processing unit (GPU) acceleration support in operations such as detector noise modeling, scene stray light generation, and radiometric calibration
- NVIDIA GPU with Ray Tracing hardware (i.e., any NVIDIA GeForce RTX Card, which start at 2060, or Quadro equivalent)
- CUDA version 12.6 or higher
If a valid GPU and corresponding CUDA driver is available on your system, ImSym uses it by default. If you do not have a valid GPU and corresponding driver installed, ImSym switches to CPU processing and displays a message to inform you.
