About this event

The LightTools Discovery training provides a structured introduction to the core workflows and modeling capabilities of LightTools, Keysight's Illumination, non-sequential and Stray light design tool.

Participants will learn how to work on a simple illumination systems, perform non-sequential ray tracing simulations, and generate photometric results for the design optical design. With its integrated modeling environment and advanced analysis tools, LightTools enables efficient optimization and accelerates the development of high-performance illumination solutions.

The Training include:

  • Introduction to the basic concepts of Illumination and the metrics used.
  • Basic Interface and features of the software, including modules unlocking capabitilies
  • A live example of an illumination optimization of an optical system leveraging some key capabilities of the software.
  • Pointing out resources on assistance and how to build a workflow.
  • The training takes anywhere between 2 and 3 hours, depending on questions and audience participation.

Who should attend this event?

This training is ideal for:

  • Optical engineers and illumination designers who are new to LightTools or non-sequential optical design.
  • Engineers developing illumination systems for automotive, consumer electronics, AR/VR, medical, industrial, or general lighting applications.
  • Product designers and simulation specialists looking to evaluate and optimize optical system performance.
  • Current LightTools users seeking a structured introduction to core modeling, ray-tracing, and analysis workflows.
  • Students, researchers, and technical professionals interested in learning industry-standard illumination design techniques.

No prior LightTools experience or optical design background is required. The training is designed for beginners and provides a practical introduction to illumination system modeling, non-sequential ray tracing, photometric analysis, and workflow best practices using LightTools.
