Using filters with higher ripple deviation than specified introduces distortions that can result in wireless devices incorrectly sending or receiving data. Ripple deviation is a key filter specification that helps prevent signal distortion in the filter passband. A network analyzer measures the reflection and transmission characteristics of the filter, also known as the S-parameter. Regular calibration of the network analyzer reduces many systematic errors in the test, ensuring that the results are as accurate as possible.
