How to Verify Automotive Ethernet Receiver Compliance

Pulse Function Arbitrary Noise Generator
+ Pulse Function Arbitrary Noise Generator

Verifying automotive Ethernet receiver components with physical layer electrical tests

Ensuring the receiver component of an automotive Ethernet module or switch meets signal quality requirements and complies with the IEEE automotive Ethernet standard requiring three physical layer electrical tests. These tests include indicated signal quality index (SQI) for the channel, alien crosstalk noise rejection, and bit error rate (BER) verification. Each test maps to the various relevant IEEE and Open Alliance 100/1000BASE-T1 test cases.

For automotive Ethernet receiver compliance, the test setup includes a pulse function arbitrary noise generator, media converter, test fixture, and golden device under test. The test must be set up for repeated runs under various conditions, such as in a climate chamber or when running electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) compliance testing.

Automotive Ethernet receiver compliance solution

Validating receiver components for automotive Ethernet modules or switches requires several physical layer electrical tests in accordance with the IEEE standard. The Keysight automotive Ethernet receiver compliance solution performs verification and debugging of a design's physical layer. Receiver tests verify the bit error rate (BER) requirement, signal quality index (SQI), and alien crosstalk noise rejection required by the OPEN Alliance and the IEEE. Automated setups enable repeated test runs under various conditions.
